A lot has happened in the last 3 1/2 years of SAVE THE DJ HALL CAMPAIGN. Set up in 2008 to save the Diamond Jubilee Hall. The Hall has now transfered over to the Kiltearn Community Council. The next step is now the future of the hall and refurbishment of the hall. Watch this space for more information. |

| Last Updated : 14th Jan 2010 As I am sure you saw the posters advertising SavetheDJ.co.uk Public meeting that was held last night in the Diamond Jubilee Hall to discuss the way forward. As previous planned the Evanton Communuity Trust we going to take the hall on, but announced at the Kiltearn Community Council meeting in December that they were no longer in a poisiton to do so. The original report that the Diamond Jubilee Hall Steering Group make in July 2009, the set up of a new group was the other option. At the meeting last night the new committee for this group was formed and will be meeting shortly to take the next steps forward. Update will be made on savethedj.co.uk for public to keep up to date with what is going on with the hall. There will also be update posted onto notice board in the hall and post office notice board. |
| Last Updated : 16th December 2010 As previous planned to transfer the Diamond Jubilee Hall to the Evanton Community Trust as of 1st of December 2010 the Evanton Community Trust decided that it was not in a position to take on the Diamond Jubilee Hall. The formation of a new group will have to be formed. |

The famous portrait that hangs in the Diamond Jubilee Hall of Major Randle Jackson has gone down south to be restored to it formall glory. When he come back the plan is to get a case made to go over him so he can be protected and kept in exellent condition for everyone to view and enjoy in the Diamond Jubilee Hall.
Major Randle Jackson was the local landowner who owned Swordale House and land around, and decided that the people of Evanton needed a meeting place and told the people of Evanton that he would put up half the money and they needed to raise the other half. Then they built themselves the Diamond Jubilee Hall 1897 was around when it opened. Major Randell Jackson said really involved with the hall and his portrait was donated by his wife to the people of Evanton.
It will be good to see him return to his pride and place on the wall of the Diamond Jubilee Hall.
DJ HALL SAVED - IT'S NOW OFFICIAL DJ HALL COMING INTO COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP.

Diamond Jubilee Hall will be transfered from Highland Council to the Evanton Community Trust in 2010. A new hall committiee will be formed to take control of the hall and apply for funding applications. A New Heating system along with new lighting throughout the Diamond Jubilee Hall will be one of the main piortiy to get the hall electric bill down, which funding will be applied for from various groups.

Diamond Jubilee Hall Steeing Group committee is making a detailed report for Kiltearn Community Council after many months of hard work by the Steering Group.
Once the report is ready and has been discussed by KCC then a pubilc meeting will be held.

DJ HALL STEERING GROUP ANNOUNCE HALL USER MEETING

Diamond Jubilee Hall Steeing Group committee is to hold a hall user group meeting with hall users across the Evanton Halls to discuss future of the hall, facilties and space on Friday 23rd Jan 2009 in the DJ Hall at 7:30pm.
The Diamond Jubilee Hall Steering Group will call a public meeting in February 2009.

Diamond Jubilee Hall Steering Group has elected a new chiarperson and that is Save the DJ Hall Founder Michael MacLeod.
KILTEARN COMMUNITY COUNCIL PUBLIC MEETING

Kiltearn Community Council have held a public meeting with the community of Evanton and it was decided a steering group should be formed to find out the fact and look at all aspects of potentially running the hall.
HIGHLAND COUNCIL PUBLIC MEETING

After the meeting on Monday 1st September, Highland Council confirmed that the community either takes on the running of the Diamond Jubilee Hall or the hall will be closed.
Highland Council has a lot of information which they need to find out to before November and feed back to the community.
Kiltearn Community Council has since has a general meeting and has decided the best course of action is for us to also hold a public meeting before the main meeting with Highland Council to get a plan of action ready to Save the DJ Hall.
DJ HALL- Major Randle Jackson Portrait.Major Randle Jackson has got to be restored and cleaned up by a specialist company.
| Last Updated : 20th Jan 2010 At tonights meeting held in the DJ Hall the Kiltearn Community Council agreed to the proposal that they take on the property. The Hall will be transfered to the KCC and a seperate Managment Committee will be in charge of running and soucing funding for upgrades and putting in place the steering groups plan for the hall. There will be a meeting next week for the KCC and the new DJ Hall Management Committee to form and start the process of setting up a consitiution for the committee and then putting the group into the position of setting up a registered scottish charity for the hall.
